MISSION CHURCH DIRECTORY

Grace Gathering is a community of mission churches meeting all throughout the geographical area on different days of the week to advance the kingdom of God. Mission churches are missional communities and groups of people who are looking to change the world through a triangular UP, IN, and OUT focus. Below is a directory of our current mission churches. They are all open for new people to join. New mission churches are also always forming.

If you would like to read more about what house churches are, you can read our Mission Church FAQ, or for an even more in-depth explanation you can read our Mentor Guide. We encourage you to try one or some of the many mission churches you see here and join one that best fits you and your family.

Age Range
Any age welcome. This group is a continuation of the young adults life together group and is therefore currently comprised of people ages 18-30; however, it is not limited to this age group. As we move forward as a house church, we understand that diversity in a house church is valuable for the growth of all the members.

Missional Focus
While we do not have a well defined missional focus, it is obvious that many of us enjoy working with youth. As a group, we spend one Friday night a month at the Power House Youth Center in New Haven. In addition, individuals are involved with Campus Life, A Hope Center, and the children/youth ministries at Grace Gathering.

Description

We call ourselves the Barabbas Family for two reasons. The reference to Barabbas is in recognition of the fact that we, like the criminal, are deserving of punishment for our rebellion. During Jesus’ trial, the Roman governor offered to spare either him or Barabbas, a criminal. The crowd demanded Barabbas be released and Jesus crucified. Similarly, we recognize that God could have spared either us or Jesus, and chose to crucify his Son in our place. It is the recognition of this unfair exchange that prompts us to live our lives for God. We have chosen to call ourselves a family, rather than a group, because we desire for our relationships to be raw and intimate like those of a family. We want our group to be accepting and loving of others because we are all created in God’s image, not because we think they are cool or get along with them. We know that sometimes family life gets messy, and although tough at times, the motivation to remain connected is greater between brothers and sisters than between friends.

We currently consist of young adults experiencing all walks of life: college and real world, single and married, with and without children. All ages are welcome as we desire to have a more diversified house church. We hang out, study the Bible, pray, try to hold each other accountable, encourage one another, etc.

Every mission church has a coach that offers prayer, accountability, guidance, and overall support. These two mentors have the following coaches: Brady and Deb Koehlinger.
