Become a disciple who makes disciples in everyday life.
A lot of people in our church family want to make a difference in the lives of those around them. Whether it’s discipling someone, being a missionary at work, leading a small group, serving on a ministry team, or impacting the community, we all have to answer two questions:
- Do I feel like God wants to use me to lead?
- Am I confident I know how?
Leadership Lab is an intentional community of people pursuing the heart of Jesus and learning to lead like Him. Our goal is for people in this community to deepen their understanding of their identity, to know others are with them, and to build the confidence to go and make disciples.
September — May
We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:45pm in five 6-week blocks. This allows us to focus on five areas of discipleship with breaks in between each session.
5 Areas of Discipleship
- Personal and Collective Identity
- The Ways of Jesus
- The Words of Jesus
- The Works of Jesus
- Calling and Commission
2 Weekend Retreats
Once in the Fall and once in the Spring, we’ll spend a weekend away to dive deeper together. The Fall’s focus is Inner Healing, and the Spring’s focus is on Discovering Your Calling.
What to Expect
Home
We gather in a home to reconnect over coffee, tea, and the occasional dessert. We believe discipleship in the context of community is essential!
Teaching
Each time we meet, we hear about a discipleship or leadership principle from an experienced leader.
Groups
Afterwards, we process in smaller groups to celebrate each other’s wins, support one another’s struggles, and hold each other accountable.
Prayer
About every other week, we spend extended intentional time being formed in worship and prayer together.
FAQs
Common Questions
Is there a cost?
While there is no cost associated with the Lab, we do occasionally ask participants to cover small costs (like food for a retreat, which is otherwise free).
Is this only for young adults?
As we think about training up healthy and high-capacity leaders, investing in the emerging generation is key to inspiring a movement. Even most of Jesus’ followers were young adults! At the same time, anyone who wants to receive this level of discipleship is more than welcome to participate and grow in their character and leadership skills.
Will there be any additional requirements?
Throughout the Lab, participants are given assignments as a way to prepare for or follow-up on a particular topic we’re engaging with. We ask everyone who is part of the Lab to be willing to lead out in some way when the Lab is over. That might be among youth, or by leading a missional community in their neighborhood. The options are endless. We are looking for people who are ready to lead and willing to grow in that area.
