Preparation for PRAISE, WORSHIP, and SOAKING in His Presence.
(View “Intro to Worship in the Psalms” here.)

Begin your practice in prayer by asking Him these questions and write down thoughts, words, and pictures that come to your mind.

  1. Ask Him what He would have you do in your time of worship.
  2. Ask the Lord to move your heart to dance before Him.
  3. Sense throughout your worship time what your posture should be. How should your worship time begin? End?
  4. If you play an instrument, does He want you to incorporate that into your personal worship time?

PRAISE (5 min)

PRAISE (begin by bowing or kneeling (if you can) and reminding Him and each other how good He is and worthy of our praise)

  1.  Begin to pray out loud in thanksgiving and praise. As phrases and thoughts come to your mind, speak them out.
  2. As people are praying out loud, agree with each other. Some phrases that people say are “I agree,” “yes, Lord,” or simply saying “yes.”

Remember that it’s ok to speak during singing as well-especially when there is no singing. It helps to keep us engaged and whole-hearted.

Choose one of the song links below and express your worship in the ways we talked about:

WORSHIP (10 min)

WORSHIP (begin by standing up and allowing God to help you express you worship to Him.  It is at this point where “He” turns to “You” in addressing God in first person).  Use one of the two song links below.

SOAKING (10 min)

SOAKING- This if the part of worship where the Spirit of God speaks and we sing or say very little. It’s His desire for communion, relationship, and encounter.  When our hearts are open in worship and an attitude of surrender, we are open to receive ministry of the Holy Spirit more than any other time. This can also allow for the prophetic ministry of the Spirit to flow.

Acknowledge that some people are at different places in their relationship with God, and have different comfort levels of opening their hearts to Him. Allow people some different options in how to position and respond during a soaking time.

FADE MUSIC AFTER 10 MINUTES

DISCUSSION (5-10 MIN)

At the end of your worship time, briefly discuss the different encounters you had with God. Was there something that the Holy Spirit showed you about yourself? About expression? About God?
